LAWN CARE

At Taurus Gardening we believe in giving our Clients the right service for their garden. We have a number of services to get your lawn looking great:

Slogro: This service is unique to Taurus Gardening Ltd and is the application of a grass growth regulator. This slows down the vertical growth but improves root and shoot growth, improving the lawn's drought, disease and wear tolerance and it's ability to recover from damage whilst potentially reducing the cutting frequency.

Scarify: Scarification reduces the amount of thatch (build up of grass roots, shoots and leaves which creates a surface mat, denying the soil of moisture, air and nutrients and weakening the grass), and moss build up. Should be carried out annually in late summer / early autumn.

Hollowtine: By removing cylindrical cores from the lawn surface, air, moisture and nutrients can better penetrate direct to the grass root zone . Unlike other lawn care service providers, we rake and remove the corings as to leave them on the surface makes a mess and damages grass cutting machinery and we do not believe they add any value as a surface dressing. We will also dress with lawn sand to help control moss and guard against future compaction as part of the treatment. Ideally carried out in late winter/early spring.

Fertiliser: We use a season long spring/summer slow release fertiliser with a special formulation which means only one application is required for the summer season and this feeds the lawn evenly all through the summer.

Weed Treatment: Application of a selective broad leaf weedkiller specifically designed for amentiy turf.

Moss Treatment: Application of a special annual moss treatment. This should be carried out late August / early September, ideally prior to scarifying.

Pest & Disease Control: Specific pest & Disease treatment as required. Diagnosis and treatment offered.

Re-Seed: Re-seed patches or 'over-seed' lawn following hard scarification work.

GARDEN MAINTENANCE

Our core service is that of garden and grounds maintenance. This work encompasses the vast majority of regular jobs required in a garden such as;

- Grasscutting
- Strimming
- Hedgetrimming
- Pruning
- Rose Care, Pruning & Pest Control
- Lawn Care – Scarification, Hollow Tining and Feed & Weed Treatments
- Border Cultivation & Enriching – Mulching & Feeding
- Weeding & Weed Control

All our equipment is petrol powered and we are able to work completely independently of power supplies. We can also remove any waste arising from our work where required. Work is carried out weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on your requirements.

We offer annual contracts paid by monthly instalment, flexible pay-as-you-go terms for short term or new clients.

When maintaining a garden regularly, we strive to carry out the work at a set scheduled time, so that our client knows when to expect the work to be carried out in every week or fortnight.

GARDEN DEVELOPMENT

Many gardens we look after (and indeed many we don’t as yet) might have been well laid out in the past, but, with requirements changing over time – i.e. kids grow up, garden use changes, plants get too big and need to be replaced, others die, fashions change etc.

We actively encourage considered development of our clients gardens, so that our clients get the fullest use from what is essentially another room in their property.

Gardening after all is not only about maintaining the status quo, nature is forever changing things, it is about adapting and developing with it. Typical Development work includes;

- Installation of Leaf & Grass Compost Systems
- Re-design & Re-planting of Borders
- Installation of Patios for the Summer Barbeque
- Dressing of Borders with Bark or Gravel Mulches

GARDEN RENOVATION

The renovation of a garden should really be seen as the first step, and this is often the initial stage of a maintenance plan. Typical work carried out in a renovation might include;

- Weeding Out Borders
- Weedkiller on Persistent Weeds (With the Clients Agreement)
- Pruning, Hard Pruning or even the Removal of Overgrown Shrubs
- Strimming and Rough Cutting of Long Grass
- Re-cutting of Lawn Edges
- Removal of All Waste
